Psoriasis-easy steps to improve your condition.

Date Added: August 16, 2011 10:36:27 PM
Psoriasis. Did you just get your first spot? Or have you had it for years? Do you have just a little? Or do you have a lot all over the body?

Do you feel shy when you are on the beach? Know that you're not alone.
Most people with psoriasis feel a little embarrassed over their spots. Some do not think about it at all. Some become depressed and are struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Kim Kardashian recently went out and announced that she has psoriasis. She has apparently decided to use the new bio medicine as Enbrel or remikade. Kim got this at the age of 30. Psoiasis can come for the first time at any age. No one has been able to find the cause of the first outbreak.

I find this a bit strange, since more than 80 million people have psoriasis worldwide. In the Nordic areas, as much as 3% of the population got psoriasis in one degree or another.

A recent survey in Norway shows that psoriasis patients who start on medicine is in greater danger of contracting other diseases. It is also not unusual with a heart attack if you are suffering with psoriasis at the age of 48-55 years.
The reason for this may be that those who begin with a heavy medicine methotrexate and sandimun, also have to start other medication to counteract the side effects resulting from these medications. This is a vicious circle. One starts with a drug for psoriasis, and then must take two drugs for side effects. And then again you have to take two in order to counteract those drugs again. Its like a pyramid.

I had psoriasis for over 20 years. I had over 90% of my body covered with both psoriasis and eczema. It started with a small spot on the leg when I was 16. After a short time with cortisone the spot disappeared, but it was not long before it came back. Each time I used cortisone it came back shortly afterwards, and even more so than before.

When I turned 30 I had psoriasis all over his body, and eczema ( Eksem )  in the face and on my neck, I was desperate and started on methotrexate. Adverse reactions were strong. I was nauseous, had hallucinations and I lost weight. I also had to do a liver biopsy.

After 6 months with methotrexate, I had enough and quit. I was then told that I could try another drug called sandimun. This is also an immunosuppressive drug that is used when patients have been transplanted a new organ so that the body does not reject the new organ. The side effects were worse and I did not use sandimun longer than about a month.

Eventually I got the opportunity to access the new biotechnology drugs Enbrel or remikade. The first question I had to my doctor was: What are the side effects ?
The answer was that there was no short term side effects of any importance, but long-term effects were not identified yet. I asked : So you do not know what the consequences of this will be in 20 years ? The answer was no, sorry. I found out that there has been several deaths with Remikade, but the percentage was acceptable.

Ok, it's annoying and sometimes painful to have psoriasis, but you do not die of it. Volunteering to participate in an experiment with people who throughout history haven't cared if they have sacrificed some lives in the name of science? No thanks. I took the care with oils and baths I could get to the hospital I was admitted and said that this is the last time you will ever see me here. This I will find out on my own. The doctors laughed a little of me, but wished me luck.

So I initiated my own research. I knew that there were certain things I ate I reacted to. That I was better when I didn´t drink alcohol and that certain situations could cause an outbreak. I started writing down what I ate, day by day. When I got an outbreak, I could go back to see what it was I had eaten earlier that day.

So I eliminated the one and the one thing that got my psoriasis to break out. Some foods gave me bigger outbreaks than other foods.

Eventually I was left with a small list of things that were the worst triggers. I took a detox and started taking vitamins. Among them the much disputed B3 also known as niacin. Niacin has a cleansing effect on the blood and organs.

I have several friends who have had psoriasis in the scalp ( Psoriasis i hodebunnen ) and psoriasis and eczema on the hands. Only by asking them to cut down on three things, and at the same time start with vitamins, they have managed to get rid of psoriasis completely.

If you have some small spots of psoriasis on some places on the body, please try to cut down on these things.

1) Alcohol. One of the things that doctors write about a typical psoriasis patient is that it is a middle aged man who smoke and drink more than average. If you have to drink, stick to beer in moderation.

2) Caffeine. Everything from energy drinks to coffee. Caffeine is a stimulant and affects psoriasis strongly.

3) Sugar. Avoid sweets and drinks with lots of sugar. Cut down on carbonated drinks as well. Most of them come with lots of sugar.

Only by avoiding these things, you will get it much better. If you have only small spots of psoriasis in some parts of the body, you can get rid of psoriasis completely.

I did.

May the rest of your life be free from psoriasis.
